Dallas Arboretum

Our kind neighbor from next door called me up and asked if we wanted any of her Dallas Arboretum tickets for the children's area. She had some left over from taking her grand daughters and was kind enough to share. I was so excited and gladly accepted them. What a treat we were all in for! We packed the kids up the next weekend and headed out for a fun family outing. I will always remember our neighbors kindness and appreciate the memories she made possible.
The kids are under the belly of a plant grown caterpillar; which also happens to be the entrance of a hedge maze.
The garden area had statues of various bugs such as this one. It was fun for the kids to get to see the bugs on such a large scale. Even if they were fake.
Eating lunch in a log! Silly Andrew was acting as cute as can be. He just plopped down in the log, made himself at home, and started chowing down. HAHA Of  course I had to take a picture.
The boys are in a small scaled observing hut. It of course had a slide, which made it that much cooler.
 Turtle Turtle!
The kids enjoyed taking their shoes off and playing in the stream. It was the perfect activity for a warm day.

Giant Ant! Loved this giant wooden ant. It was a great tool in teaching the kids the difference between spiders and bugs. Bugs have three sectioned bodies while spiders only have two! Bam! Love it when a fun activity turns into a learning tool. Oh and it's just such a cute picture of all of them.
Our sweet children make us laugh. We love you all so much. Keep smiling, you're so good at it! lol
Working in the garden! Isaac enjoyed moving dirt with the wheel barrow and Emeri enjoyed matching the flowers together.
Climbing the tree house. In the middle of the arboretum was a giant tree house. Surrounding half of the tree was a giant net that the kids could climb on. The impressive part was that it started already two stories up. There was no way I was getting on it, but of course I made the boys. HAHA Isaac even reached the top!
Water Energy and Gears! This was a neat area that taught about the power water has and how it can generate energy and movement. These guns were a great demonstration for the boys of what the water can do if you use it correctly. When the water from their guns spun the wheel, a fountain of water rose up from the lake. When they stopped the wheel, the fountain shrunk back down into the lake.

I personally LOVED this section of the kids arboretum. It was an area on the super foods and what they do for your body. For each circle, you flip the cover and it tells you what foods to eat that will improve that area. It was SO fascinating.  I took a picture of each one of course; I had to remember them all!
The picture of Emeri is when we were heading back to the car. She wanted to play in the splash pad for a few more minutes. I loved how her shirt came up over her belly while she was playing.
The picture with the boys was a cucumber we found in the garden area. We couldn't believe how long  it was. It was much longer then the ones we eat at home.
