Last weekend Kadi and I took the kids to the Heard Museum in Mckinney. There were several parts to the museum such as animatronic dinosaurs, bug exploration, stuffed wild life, and live animals as well. I was very impressed with the variety of educational exhibits this museum had to offer. Like the aquarium, this will probably be another place to add to our 'favorite' list of things to do.
We started off with the animatronic dinosaurs which were awesome. As you can see from these photos Derek and I were the only ones to get anywhere near them though. In the first few pictures you don't even see Andrew because he is standing about 40 feet away from the noise making dinosaurs. Isaac was the first of my boys to get closer but it still took a bit. I think the problem was that we took the trail backwards. Instead of starting off with the cute little dinosaurs at the beginning of the trail we started off with the Tyrannosaurus first. Bad idea, see, in the first picture I am trying to show the boys that they aren't real. Isaac made it really clear that I was in danger and that I needed to "watch out" while he was still timid about them. Super cute.
This dinosaur helped a lot getting the kids used to the rest of them. Plus this one didn't roar or make growling sounds. They actually had the most fun with this one because they could touch it.
They even wanted the dinosaur to eat them.
I was letting the dinosaur eat me when Andrew spotted me and said "moooom!"
Isaac started picking up sticks to use them as weapons against the dinosaurs. Telling him that superheros aren't scared of anything has really helped him not to be scared of things. lol
Isaac the Super Hero protecting his brother.
Andrew was so scared of this dinosaur. He grabbed onto my legs when I came to him. Is it bad that I loved it? He is such an independent guy that when he cries for me because he is scared I allow him to be scared just to get some cuddles out of him. lol I know I am a bad mom. lol
A 'Huck Finn' picture.
These are the cute little dinosaurs that we should have started off with. See how cute these ones are compared to the T-rex? Next time.
'Bug Exploration'
So that brownie in Andrew's hand was given to him at the very beginning of our trip by Papa Heath. This picture was taken about two minutes before we left and he still has it in his hands. I love how he still hordes things like he did when he was a baby.
I told the boys to make a snake face and this is what they did.
